    The Sales Specialist, Strategic Accounts works under the general direction of the Executive Director of Business Development, this customer-facing strategic sales position is accountable for driving the business growth pipeline for new and existing customers. This is to be accomplished by assessing the potential application of Kaman’s products and services to offer solutions that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. A high level of business acumen, blended with technical product knowledge and experience, is imperative in this key growth-focused position.  The Sales Lead, Strategic Accounts will be responsible for staying up-to-date on current product offerings/knowledge, generating their own leads, analyzing, and predicting future trends and needs. This role is geared for a hunter, someone who is not afraid to make the calls and have interactions needed for successful close of business opportunities.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conduct customer needs assessments to align and promote Kaman’s products /services to gain market share
    • Proactive and assertive outreach to potential customers, including scheduling appointments and face to face meetings
    • Develop long-term relationships and build partnerships with the customer that lead to new businessopportunities and wins
    • Exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit and selling strategy including cross-selling and up-selling
    • Ability to take ownership of assigned projects, handle ambiguity and independently drive for results
    • Strong customer focus with a good business acumen
    • Monitor quote activity and progression and provide customer updates as needed
    • Perform market research on new and existing products and services as directed by the Executive Director of Business Development and make appropriate recommendations to Senior Leadership
    • When necessary, support the marketing efforts such as trade shows, exhibitions, and conferences
    • Develops and delivers professional sales presentations to all levels of customers and potential customer’s organizations.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Willingness to travel regularly
    • Demonstrated organizational, written and verbal communication skills
    • Competency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
    • Ability to communicate and present effectively at the shop floor level up to the C-Suite level

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience intechnical product sales and manufacturing environments, preferably in the Aerospace industry related Aerostructures assembly from sheet metal to fabrications
    • Strong analytical skills, and the ability to summarize data and trends clearly
    • Has been a part of creating and executing a strategic sales plan in the Aerospace industry
    • Strong marketing aptitude and interest; understanding and application of basic marketing frameworks.
    • Practical experience with the implementation of new business development and marketing initiatives that lead to profitable growth.
    • Strong problem-solving skills to structure and conduct analysis and to drive robust decisions.
    • Proven track record of successful implementation (on time and on budget) of technology or marketing programs preferred.
    • Ability to perform financial analysis to help make rational business decisions.
    • Intellectual curiosity: to learn, to ask questions.
    • Ability to influence multi-functional teams without a direct reporting relationship.
    • Strong execution and deadline focus
    • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
    • Good judgment and decision-making.
    • Strong desire to win. Highly motivated self-starter.
    • Team player.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Industrial Management or equivalent experience is required.
    • MBA Preferred
    • PMP Certification preferred
