    The CMM programmer creates, verifies and controls CMM programs for use by personnel within the organization. Performs advance inspection activities of product, materials, 1st piece inspection, in-process monitoring. May present/accept product as a Designated Supplier Quality Representative for customers as required or assigned. Reports to Value Stream Manager/Team Leader on work assignments to meet production schedules. Reports to Quality Assurance Manager regarding quality issues

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Creates and updates inspection programs for CMM and the DCC-CMM to be used by members of inspection/manufacturing team to determine product conformity. Provide CMM operation instruction as required. Verifies and documents program accuracy using Kamatics internal and available industry standards.
    • Uses the CMM and a variety of conventional and advanced inspection devices and instruments to verify dimensions to drawing specifications.
    • Provides technical leadership/training as needed to the inspection staff. Develops and implements process improvements relating to the inspection process. Ensures that production schedules and customer requirements are met.
    • Performs visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance. Performs 1st piece and in-process inspection as needed
    • Identifies defects in surface, dimensional, visual and non-conformities (material, documentation and workmanship) to blue prints and Kamatics quality standards. Reports non-conformance of materials or unusual conditions to Quality Manager and cell leader.
    • Performs all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follows work procedures.  Provides support to achieve short-term and long-term department / company goals.
    • Maintains records, data and logs as necessary. Creates inspection forms such as Inspection Methods Sheets, First Article Inspection Data and other related forms.
    • Prepares products and related paperwork for presentation to customer or source inspection as a Designated Supplier Quality Representative for customers as well as interact with customers at source inspection when required.
    • Maintains clean and safe work environment. Follows safety and environmental procedures / programs and regulations.  Reports safety incidents to supervisor.
    • Makes and documents recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contributes to 5 S programs in work area.
    • Provides a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contributes to positive teamwork environment. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in training/learning other positions.  Accomplishes related results as needed.


    Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent


    Experience:  5 years inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
