      We are seeking a Facilities and Enviromental Manager to manage the company’s maintenance functions.  Responsible for the upkeep of machinery and facilities based on production, safety and financial criteria.  Is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental initiatives and regulations and property protection.  Interacts effectively with environmental agencies, customers, suppliers, site employees, corporate management as well as site management.  Manages the day to day safety initiatives and programs for the company.   

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manages the maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, or electrical servicing to the organization's facilities.
    • Follows environmental compliance and safety regulations.
    • Responsible for initiating required actions to maintain company compliance in all assigned areas.
    • Projects cost estimates for maintenance, facilities project needs – completing the projects within the determined budgets and managing outside contractors.
    • Keeps production operational in a safe manner with a minimal amount of downtime and loss of production.
    • Available as the after-hours contact for all maintenance, facilities and plant protection issues.
    • Ensures maintenance employees perform job functions and coordinates all associated contractors for a complete and time effective job completion.
    • Plans, prioritizes and assigns work for maintenance employees – across multiple shifts, work centers and workloads. Schedules employees to meet production needs. 
    • Supervises employees in assigned areas in accordance with company policies and state/federal laws and regulations.
    • Counsels departmental employees regarding performance, productivity, and adherence to company policies and procedures in a professional and constructive manner.
    • Supervises documentation and adequate training of personnel.
    • Ensures a safe work environment and that all appropriate procedures are followed.
    • Manages security of the company facilities.
    • Lead the Safety Committee and assign tasks to ensure employees have a safe working environment.

    Environmental Responsibilities

    • Participates in annual training concerning hazardous waste regulatory compliance, including the facility’s Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan. Is the facility’s designated tertiary emergency coordinator responsible for responding to all hazardous waste emergencies in the absence of the primary emergency coordinator.  In this capacity he/she is on call at all times when the primary emergency coordinator is not available.
    • Provides environmental audits of new and existing equipment and processes; prepares recommendations and implement, as authorized.
    • Responsible for managing the facility’s Hazardous Waste Program according to the guidelines and responsibilities outlined in the facility’s waste Management Program.
    • Maintains, updates and ensures Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are up-to-date and employees have the ability to access those needed for their work area.
    • Performs workplace assessments, identifies hazardous conditions and takes corrective actions.
    • Launches and maintains safety-training initiatives to comply with environmental requirements.
    • Interprets applicable federal and state laws, regulations and orders as they pertain to all environmental issues in the assigned facility.
    • Implements policies and procedures that ensure compliance to appropriate laws, statutes or regulations.
    • Coordinates environmental permit administration as required for new processes and equipment.
    • Directs external environmental and other consultant services as needed for technical support.
    • Ensures necessary and timely environmental record keeping, and submits reports to federal/local authorities, company management and Kaman Composites - Wichita (KCW) as required.
    • Participates and respond to internal/external inspections and audits regulatory agencies and KCW corporate EH&S.
    • Receives annual Hazardous Waste training in waste compliance, regulatory information and any other training as required.
    • Acts as a liaison between facility and KCW, EH&S and Risk Management.
    • Provides innovative solutions to continually reduce air, water and waste reportable.
    • Work with Risk Management and insurance carriers to eliminate any EH&S issues that may lead to increased coverage costs.
    • Handles hazardous materials and waste.

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelors in Environmental Science or other related field preferred.

     

    Experience: 

    • Strong experience in welding and mechanical functions.
    • Five (5) years of maintenance and/or safety leadership experience.
    • Certifications and Licenses:  Type 1 and 2 Refrigeration, Lockout/Tagout training, hoist, forklift.
