      The Vice President of Quality will report directly into the President of the Kaman Precision Products and will be responsible for developing, maintaining and driving continuous improvement of quality culture and metrics for all our locations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Leading the KPP/KPPI Quality department by creating and driving the Quality vision for the organization.
    • Responsible for developing a “Quality Culture” for the entire organization.
    • Providing consistent leadership and support to site level Quality Managers and their staff.
    • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations to reduce quality risk of new and existing programs, including program and contract reviews.
    • Accountability to support the fulfillment of organizational strategies and objectives.
    • Working seamlessly across all levels of the organization, including leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
    • Responsible for driving improvements in cost, productivity, quality processes, and on-time delivery.
    • Interface directly with on-site and off-site customers and suppliers.
    • Oversee management of the quality system from end to end through use of tracked metrics.
    • Support compliance audits and ensure they are driving expeditious resolution to issues.
    • Make recommendations for capital equipment to drive improved quality, capability, and capacity.
    • Support the facilitation of teams that deliver accurate, thorough, and timely problem resolutions to internal manufacturing, LAT, and external customer issues.
    • Maintain a quality leadership team that is cross trained to AS9100 and other regulatory standards as required.
    • Provide project planning of cross functional teams that drive continuous improvement and reduction of process variation.

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    • BS degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Business or related discipline is required
    • Masters of Science or MBA is preferred

    Experience:  

     

    • Over 15 years of experience in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Quality Assurance.
    • Prefer quality experience with aerospace or defense industry.
    • Must possess demonstrated ability to implement change and be results focused.
    • Detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing / continuous improvement techniques.
    • Must possess excellent organizational and team working/building skills.
    • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communiation skills required.
    • Professional certification preferred (ASQ, CQE, CQM)
    • Computer skills in PC windows/software required with knowledge of current versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project with PowerPoint and Access preferred.
    • Effective influencer across all levels of the organization.
    • Leadership skills:  Ability to lead people, coach and mentor staff; ability to lead with integrity, honesty and trust.
    • Analytical and organizational skills:  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; ability to review and compare data to identify inconsistencies and determine priorities.  Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments.
