      The Financial Analyst works under the direction of the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis or his designee, is responsible for maintaining and controlling all activities which affect the profitability of assigned programs consisting of moderate scope and complexity.  May perform assignments comparable in scope and complexity to those performed by more senior personnel but under closer technical direction. 

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Institute financial controls that support internal and external cost reporting requirements. Assist in data accumulation and analysis for programs of broader scope and complexity.
    • Establish and provide information on program budgets and analyze performance and activities that impact the profitability of those programs.
    • Provide a single focal point where the interrelated parts of a program are brought together in a cohesive package for management review and interpretation.
    • Prepare controls for assigned programs in a responsible and professional manner to ensure the profitability of awarded contracts.
    • Provide maximum visibility through application of financial control techniques. Retain complete, orderly and audit-able files.
    • Perform assignments requiring knowledge of company cost control techniques with an understanding of engineering, manufacturing and other related functional areas within the company.
    • Utilizing approved budget control methods, recognizes and analyzes all factors and circumstances which may adversely affect the financial posture of assigned programs.
    • Present results in an organized format with sufficient detail to facilitate review by financial management.
    • Prepare in-depth financial analysis of assigned programs covering sales and profit projections, developing base elements for overheads and manpower requirements, cash flow inputs and contractual coverage positions.
    • Results of analysis serve as the foundation for a top management report upon which management decisions affecting the financial direction of the organization will be predicated.
    • Establish departmental budgets based on negotiated quote, prior history, and negotiations with operating departments.
    • Exercise judgment in evaluating and assessing trends in order to predict future performance.
    • Establish work order series and formats for assigned programs that provide maximum visibility and control of those programs.
    • Prepare required financial reports for government and commercial programs. Continuously monitor expected results for assigned programs and compares expectations to Budget and Forecast identifying any significant deviations from these plans.
    • Prepare as required, termination liability projections, “drop dead” positions, Contract Funds Status Report (CFSR) and Cost Performance Report (CPR) for assigned programs.
    • Prepare cash flow input sheets detailing contract coverage, profit rates, and fixed delivery schedules.
    • Maintain comprehensive position of contractual coverage from initial award through subsequent amendments.
    • Monitor program bookings and billings for compliance with plan. Support Sarbanes / Oxley testing and performs special financial analysis as required.

    Qualifications

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

     

    Experience:  

    • Broad knowledge of a general technical field such as accounting, cost control, budgeting.
    • Over three (3) years up to and including five (5) years of budgeting and/or forecasting experience.
