    Kaman Composites Vermont located in Bennington Vermont is growing and we are seeking talented individuals to join our production team in 2nd and 3rd shift positions.

     

    In our opening in Aerospace, a Fabricator willl work as part of a team in the Aerospace Assembly Cells to fabricate, bond, finish and assembly commercial and/or defense related parts.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Completes prepping and finishing of parts which includes applying body filler, sanding by hand and using an orbital sander to ensure that the surface areas of assigned parts meet customer and quality expectations.
    • Completes bonding and assembly tasks which will include application of bonding materials and use of other hand and power tools in the assembly of parts. Specific tasks are as follows:

               Mix epoxy per CPS-0073

               Countersinking to tight tolerances

               Bond parts to assemblies

               Fabricate poly sulfide strips and apply

               Apply gauged polysulfide with tight tolerance on parts

               Bond edge caps

               Grit blasting

               Perform water break

               Stenciling

               Finishing

               Silicone bonding

               Hand sanding

    • Completes preventive maintenance and daily clean up within the cell following 5s procedures.
    • Keeps work area neat throughout the work day and replenishes supplies at end of shift.
    • Completes all job tasks following the company’s established work procedures, quality standards, EHS standards and Core Values.          
    • Follows all expectations of LEAN manufacturing and participates in and identifies continuous improvement opportunities in all areas of the company as assigned.
    • Completes all required data entry, report of findings and other paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Attends and participates in all other assigned meetings and training sessions.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by cell leader.

    Qualifications

    EducationHigh school diploma or GED

     

    Experience - Interested candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of manufacturing experience with ability to read and work from blueprints, use of hand tools, experience using epoxy as a structural adhesive, experience in bonding preparation and experience in finishing the exterior surface of parts.

    Strong Attention to Detail Follow written and verbal technical instructions Dependability ►Excellent Vision ► Basic PC Skills Time Management Verbal Communication Team Oriented ► ►Ability to work with minimal supervision Strong Organizational Skills Ability to pass a drug/alcohol screening test and a physical examination that will assess the ability to perform essential elements of the job as well as a pulmonary function test that will determine ability to wear a respirator. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, ability to stand, walk, bend and lift for prolonged periods of time
