Under the direction of the Chief Financial Office the Vice President of Tax will direct and coordinate the worldwide tax function of the company, with the objective of minimizing tax expenditures.  Responsibilities include developing strategic tax planning objectives and coordinating their execution, ensuring accurate and timely compliance with all tax laws, ensuring proper determination of tax liabilities and related financial statement reporting and disclosures,  providing technical assistance and direction to corporate and subsidiary management, and representing the company’s interest in the development of tax policy, legislation and administrative regulations.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Direction of tax planning, research and administration

  • Develop and recommend strategic tax planning objectives through participation in company’s long-range strategic goal setting, liaison with corporate and subsidiary management, and through constant monitoring of legislative and regulatory activity, court decisions and administrative rulings.  Direct the execution of tax planning strategies among various parties involved, including corporate staff, subsidiary management, and outside tax advisors.

Tax compliance and examinations

  • Ensure accurate and timely compliance with all U.S. federal, state and foreign country income tax laws, including development of systems and procedures to gather data necessary for such compliance.  Negotiate terms of outsourcing contracts with outside accounting firms and monitor same.  Oversee all tax examinations and inquiries and develop strategies for handling of examinations.  Negotiate settlements of examinations and coordinate protests, appeals and ruling requests.

Financial statement reporting

  • Ensure accuracy of accounting for income taxes under U.S. generally accepted accounting principles, including interim effective tax rates and proper disclosure in quarterly and annual reports.  Analyze significant or unusual transactions for proper tax accounting treatment.  Monitor exposures and adequacy of tax reserves.  Ensure compliance with internal control procedures related to tax reporting.

Technical research and planning

  • Ensure reliable and timely technical research and tax planning for all   aspects of corporate and subsidiary operations, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, executive compensation and benefits, transfer pricing and other cross-border transactions,  sales and use, payroll and property tax matters, and any other tax related issues brought forward by corporate or subsidiary management.

Tax policy and legislation

  • Monitor federal, state and international legislative developments for potential impact to company.  Provide comments to government agencies, legislators, tax writing committees, etc. on tax legislation, budget and policy issues, both as a representative of the company as well as via trade, industry and professional organizations.  Develop and maintain contacts and effective lines of communication.




  • Bachelor's degree


  • Certified Public Accountant or tax attorney
  • 10 years experience in corporate tax matters
  • Specific expertise in Subchapter C, mergers, acquisitions, consolidated returns, IRS policy and procedure, transnational transactions, and state and local taxation
  • Basic knowledge of corporate tax systems employed overseas, expatriate taxation, and long-term contract accounting.  
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles

  • Ability to connect tax-planning objectives with business goals
