Kamatics, a divison of Kaman that speicalizes in self-lubricating bearings and engineered products, is looking for talented CNC Machinists! We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated CNC Machinist to join our team in Bloomfield, CT on 1st shift in our Track Roller Value Stream.  The core hours for the position are 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM and we are currently running one hour of mandatory overtime, at the beginning of the shift for a required 45 hours a week.  Overttime pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 hours in a week.  We offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits including a 100% dollar for dollar match on the first 5% you contribute to the 401(k) plan along with generous time-off programs.  This includes a one week paid shutdown during the holidays that does not require you to use vacation time.  Team players with a passion for excellence should apply.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

     Machinist IV

  • Independently sets up, adjusts, troubleshoots and checks out programming and operates numerically controlled machine tools (2 axis lathe / 3 axis mill) to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring an intermediate level of skill
  • Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of program formats involving combinations of operations such as milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, screw machine operation, etc., to the capacity of the machine and control factor
  • Works from programs, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions
  • Self-sufficient with material clamping methods, machine adjustments/offsets and console settings

Machinist V

  • Strong ability to setup and run all standard axis (2 axis, 3 axis) numerically controlled machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill
  • Works from programs, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions
  • Self-sufficient with all aspects of machine set up on machines within their area of responsibility
  • May provide training, set-up, tool adjustment, trouble shooting, etc., support to others

Qualifications

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent; a Machining Certificate preferred

Experience:  Mimimum of three years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Understand the use and inspection methods of GD&T constraints
  • Proficient in use of shop math
  • Works independently, with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshoots basic programming errors such as taper, chatter and chip control
  • Proficient in setting up CNC machine
  • Works to standard in jaw-cutting, bringing a part to size and inspecting a part for a first piece
  • Has working knowledge of the relationship between federate and surface finish as well as surface speed to material type
