We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Machinist Trainee to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. Reporting to the Value Stream Manager the Machinist Trainee will learn about machining operations as part of the production process in a variety of different cells.  The core hours are 7:00am to  3:30pm, Monday through Friday and currently at least one hour of overtime per day is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Requires the ability to follow written instruction and read blueprint specifications
  • Basic understanding of the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and proficient in the use of shop math.
  • Requires knowledge of machining techniques and methods and familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures.
  • Works from programming instructions, operaterational data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings.
  • Operations include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations.
  • Checks parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Speeds, feeds and tooling are prescribed.
  • Under general supervision, sets up, operates, and adjusts various types of conventional or automatic machine including lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other precision equipment.
  • Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment.
  • Work is diversified and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances.
  • Requires knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school education or equivalent 
  • Machining Certification from an accredited school or program 

Experience:

  • 6+ months of machining experience or equivalent
