The Assembly Production Supervisor is responsible for leading value stream initiatives and responsibilities, while meeting business commitments for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People. The successful candidate will ensure KPI and targets are met, in accordance with production schedule and customer commitments. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, 2+ years of experience in a leadership capacity, and a high interest in lean manufacturing principles. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads assembly product line in daily operation and continuous improvement projects, which include but are not limited to: production planning and control, manufacturing priorities, and coordination of activities with cross-functional partners. 
  • Responsible for day-to-day operation of the assembly line, communicating to leaders and partners on metrics, targets, and trends for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Communicates performance status to subordiante 
  • Accountable for attaining metrics, targets and trends for key parameters of assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Advocates continuous improvement principles and concepts; leads project efforts within assigned areas of responsibility to attain the facility’s vision of cellular manufacturing within a lean enterprise.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication among functional departments, management and customers to facilitate early problem identification, slippages, cost overruns, etc., recommends corrective actions, and works closely with cell leaders to ensure timely resolution.
  • Coordinates with Facilities to ensure that machine maintenance schedules, operator TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and equipment servicing results in minimum equipment downtime. Interviews and appraises departmental personnel in compliance with federal/state laws and company policies.
  • Guides subordinate cell leaders in personnel related issues. Provides coaching, guidance, and training to subordinate staff to maintain critical skills and support a highly cross-trained employee population.
  • Represents unit as technical and operational subject matter expert in functional leadership capacity. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven competency in a team leader role for 2+ years, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of products, manufacturing processes and technology, information systems, and general business practices.
  • Strong understanding of Lean principles and methodology. Proven experience in process improvement and implementation.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence decision making with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives and bring teams to agreement.
  • Results-driven leader who is fearless about execution, can champion a vision and roadmap, and is not afraid to dig into the details with the front-line team.
