Working under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Supervisor is responsible for product quality and delivery requirements for multiple programs. This leader is accountable for attaining metrics, targets, and trends for key parameters of assigned areas of responsibility. They advocate continuous improvement principles and concepts, and lead efforts within assigned areas to attain the facility’s vision of cellular manufacturing within a lean enterprise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise inspection operations within assigned area of responsibility, ensuring quality, cost, and on-time delivery in accordance with production schedule and customer/company commitments, such as First Article Inspection (FAIs) and functional testing.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication among subordinate personnel, functional departments, management, and customers to facilitate early program identification, slippages, etc.
  • Recommend corrective action and work closely with peer-departments to ensure timely resolution.
  • Assists in the preparation of internal inspection procedures, sketches, instructions, and/or inspection plans as needed.
  • Plans and determines manpower, loading, and budget requirements based on forecasts.
  • Develops and maintains personnel and process metrics to ensure optimum operation and attainment of targets and trends for key parameters.
  • Manages the life cycle for direct reports, in compliance with federal and state laws and company policies. Provides coaching, guidance, and technical training to quality reports to maintain critical skills and support a highly cross-trained team.
  • Supports, models, and enforces the company’s personnel, lean, quality, environmental, and health and safety policies.
  • Leads team and represents department at technical, planning, and proposal meetings. Participates in program-specific reviews, as needed.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years in a quality leadership role within manufacturing industry.
  • Proven competency in a team leader role for 5+ years, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of products, manufacturing processes and technology, information systems, and general business practices.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 and AS9102 quality standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proficient use of common quality methodologies, such as SPC, Six Sigma tools and Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence decision making, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives and bring teams to agreement.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
