Kaman Air Vehicles is searching for an experienced Aircraft and Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team in Bloomfield, CT.  The individual in this role will work under the direction of the Senior Production Manager with minimum supervision. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use a wide variety of skill and experience to disassemble, clean, inspect a variety of complex assemblies such as Main Gearboxes, Tail Rotor Gearbox’s etc.
  • Ability to use work instructions or shop manuals to inspect components for wear over and above limits and document them on applicable documents.
  • Assemble complex assemblies as well as install them to an aircraft using manufacturing paperwork, specifications or drawings.
  • Ability to use jigs, fixtures and presses to install bearings, bushings tubes, control rods and cables.
  • Layout and produce moderate to complex sheet metal assemblies through the use of design drawings and work instructions.
  • Use sheet metal tools such as riveting equipment, drills, punches, brakes, shears, and shrinkers is required.
  • Install sheet metal assemblies on to aircraft to drawing requirements. 
  • Read and utilize blueprints, maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, service bulletins and other maintenance documents to troubleshoot and complete work assignments.
  • Efficient use of power tools.
  • Must be qualified to interpret assembly drawings involving various sectional views to determine location of part and interrelation to other parts.
  • Use of precision measuring instruments to transfer and layout locating dimensions.
  • Ability to diagnose, measure and report defective material, supplies or any other unusual condition or circumstance to supervision.
  • Follow all safety regulations.
  • Read and utilize blueprints, maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, service bulletins and other maintenance documents to troubleshoot and complete work assignments.
  • Perform testing on components, gearboxes, and assemblies as required.
  • Undertake statutory training as may be required.
  • Must wear protective safety equipment.
  • Perform daily scheduled and non-scheduled inspections, maintenance, repair, and alterations of aircraft.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant experience required.
