Kaman is searching for an experienced and motivated Aircraft Assembler A to join our Kaman Air Vehicles team in Bloomfield, Connecticut.  The individual in this role will work under the direction of the Group Leader, or designee as assigned, with minimal supervision. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use of a wide variety of special purpose and standard tools to build up complicated large and small sheet metal sub assemblies and major assemblies using jigs and fixtures; complicated mechanical assembly consisting of such components as bearings, brushings, cable assemblies, etc.
  • Works from drawings, specifications, charts, tables, written or oral instructions, work orders, process sheets, etc.
  • Must be qualified to interpret assembly drawings, involving various sectional views, to determine location of part and interrelation to other parts. Makes mathematical calculations, involving shop math, to locate parts from reference points such as butt, station and water lines.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to transfer and layout locating dimensions.
  • Provide assistant to Group Leader as required. Assist with training of new employees.
  • Must maintain high quality of work to ensure overall integrity of aircraft.
  • Follow all safety regulations.
  • Diagnose and report troubled areas; report defective material, supplies or any other unusual conditions or circumstance to supervision. Make recommendations for improvements in quality and/or quantity.
  • Maintain records files or other pertinent information as instructed. Maintains sufficient personal tools to perform classification functions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant experience required.
