Kamatics, a division of Kaman, is looking for an aspiring manufacturing engineer to join our team. This position reports into our Bloomfield, CT facility and it is a full time role that will  provide Manufacturing Operations with technical support. Assist in the development of  manufacturing processes, workflow, layouts, tooling and fixture designs. Ensure that all production methodology meets customer requirements, productivity, and quality expectations. Conduct product development projects within designated cost, quality, and timelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge of manufacturing processes and machine methodology; provide detailed drawings or sketches as guidance for drafting personnel to complete process sequencing. Continuously work with Machinists to improve machining efficiencies and establish best practices for production. Responsible for the sustainment of standard machining techniques.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing methods to enhance manufacturing efficiencies and reduce costs. Perform research for equipment acquisition; develop Return on Investment (ROI) reports for equipment acquisition justification.
  • Develop manufacturing methods and work instructions on new products or new equipment to meet productivity and quality requirements. Ensure processes yield product that meets cost and quality expectations, with reliability and consistency.
  • Provide support to Value Stream assigned; train with Manufacturing Engineer to develop capability to support all Value Streams as requested. Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers; share knowledge and lessons learned. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.
  • Act as a troubleshooter for assembly / machining process / manufacturing problems. Resolve problems and work with Applications Engineering, Purchasing, Sales Representatives, Product and Process Suppliers, and customers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety and environmental incidents to supervisor. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as needed.

Qualifications

 

Education: 

BS Degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.

 

 

Experience:

Entry level position. An internship at a manufacturing organization with exposure to Computer Aided Manufacturing programs.
