Under the direction of the Engineering Manager and with supervision, perform complicated and specialized tests on precision electromagnetic displacement measuring systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Work from blueprints, assembly drawings, schematics, assembly routings, wire lists, process and mil specs and verbal instructions to perform complicated and specialized electronic testing.  This includes bench testing, in-process sub assembly testing, final acceptance testing, (customer level), environmental testing, environmental system simulation (ESS), leak testing and integrated circuitry (IC) programming.   Trouble shoot and repair all electronic failures of assemblies to component level and/or piece part level.  Interpret and analyze all test data and troubleshoot any unusual performance variations.  May assist or perform repair operations, as required, on test equipment in support of test engineering or calibration. Work with test and design engineering departments on prototype assemblies to assist in developing test equipment and test plans.  Make recommendations for design changes.  Work with project engineering to develop or modify test processes and to assist in implementing corrective actions.  Set up various production test equipment, as required by program or process, including in house designed test sets, thermal chambers, vibration equipment, centrifuge, multimeters, megometers, oscilloscopes and computer controlled test equipment.  Interface with customer representatives during lot acceptance testing or government source inspection. 

 

Perform general assembly tasks including printed wire board (PWB) assembly, conformal coat touch up, potting touch up, ultrasonic cleaning, evacuation and backfill, component forming and wire wrap.  Maintain electro static discharge and soldering certifications, including general wire soldering, PWB soldering, surface mount soldering and hot air soldering, as required by program or process.  Remain flexible and willing to work in various work cells depending upon company need. 

 

Ensuring continuous improvement of policies, procedures and products.  Interface with engineering to determine failure of test equipment.  Work closely with calibration to adjust and test equipment to ensure test equipment meets calibration standards.  Document all findings that differ from the original bill of material.  Report unusual conditions or circumstances to supervision.  Investigate and troubleshoot standard and recurring problems with components.  Diagnose component failures.  Assess the level of repair and take corrective action to repair components and to ensure proper operation of equipment.  Document and record results on testing procedures.  Report unusual circumstances or conditions to supervision.

 

Attain security clearance as required.

Qualifications

Use of elementary geometry and algebra together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables; various types of precision measuring instruments.  Interpretation of data and measuring devices requiring advanced skills knowledge. 

Equivalent to 1 to 3 years of applied training in a particular or specialized occupation.  Knowledgeable with the use of personal computers and associated software, such as a word processing and spreadsheets, as required.
